Man guilty of mattress theft
THE following cases were among those heard at Banbury Magistrates’ Court between October 19 and 24:
n Adrian Greaves, 41, of Hearthway, Banbury, pleaded guilty to stealing a memory foam mattress to the value of £129.99 from Poundstretchers and to the commission of a further offence during the operational period of a suspended sentence order. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
n Robert Hunter, 61, of Union Street, Banbury, was found guilty of being drunk and disorderly and was given a six-month conditional discharge.
n Julie O’Brien, 36, of Newland Place, Banbury, pleaded guilty to attempting to steal clothing to the value of £234 from Matalan, stealing clothing to the value of £159.50 from Marks and Spencer, stealing meat products to the value of £19.56 from Co-operative Stores ad stealing meat to the value of £31.17 from Co-operative Stores. She was given a community order with a six-month drug rehabilitation requirement, four-day restorative justices programme and 12-month supervision order. She was ordered to pay £85 costs and a total of £50.73 to Co-operative Stores.
n Mason Ainsby, 18, of Glamis Place, Banbury pleaded guilty to stealing two disk cutter disks to the value of £11.96 from B&Q and failing to comply with a condition of the Notice of Supervision and was sentenced to a young offender institution for 28 days.
n Scott Scantlebury, 21, of Woodgreen Avenue, Banbury, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the requirements of a community order by failing to attend an initial assessment induction. The order was made to continue with addition of 15 hours unpaid work.
n Christopher Zammett, 33, of Queens Road, Banbury pleaded guilty to speeding by driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone and was fined £60, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge, £65 costs and had his licence endorsed with three points.
n John Goust of Southam Road, Banbury was found guilty of being a person to whom a licence for a motor vehicle was issued upon receipt of a cheque which was subsequently dishonoured. The defendant then failed to deliver up the licence when required to do so. He was fined £600, ordered to pay £140 vehicle excise back duty, £15 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
n Stephen Keene of Cromwell Road, Banbury, was found guilty of failing to deliver vehicle registration documents to the Secretary of State and was fined £200, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
n Jozef Klinek, 32, of Danesmoor, Banbury, was found guilty of using an unlicensed vehicle on a public road and was fined £200, ordered to pay £35 vehicle excise back duty and £90 costs.
n Gabor Toth of Knoll Walk, Chipping Norton, was found guilty of failing to deliver vehicle registration documents to the Secretary of State and was fined £200, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
n Lucasz Kolodziel, 28, of Hastings Road, Banbury, pleaded guilty to drink driving, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance. He was given a community order with a requirement to complete 250 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for three years, ordered to pay £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
n Dale Thorn, 29, of Duke Street, Banbury, pleaded guilty to producing a quantity of cannabis and was given a community order with a requirement to complete 200 hours unpaid work and pay £85 costs.
n Colin Towner, 46, of Miller Road, Banbury pleaded guilty to possessing 22.8 grams of amphetamine with intent to supply and possessing 47 grams of cannabis with intent to supply. He was fined £75, ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
n Kieron Barnes, 21, of Miller Road, Banbury, pleaded guilty to destroying two windows to the value of £256 belonging to Sanctuary Housing and was given a 12-month conditional discharge, ordered to pay £256 compensation and £80 costs.
n Lee Bennett, 33, of Harrowby Road, Banbury, pleaded guilty to stealing meat to the value of £39.80 from Farmfoods Ltd and was sentenced to 21 days in prison.
