Comedy’s new talent brings show to town

MHBG-11-10-12 Ents Daniel Sloss

MHBG-11-10-12 Ents Daniel Sloss

ONE of comedy’s brightest new talents, Daniel Sloss, returns to Banbury’s Mill Theatre next weekend as part of his 2012 tour.

Simply called ‘The Show’ this is Daniel Sloss brighter than ever in a performance that is described by the Sunday Express as ‘nothing short of hysterical… A stunning show’.

Sloss’ appearance is one of 50 during this tour around the UK, bringing a hugely busy and successful year to a close.

The internationally acclaimed, award-winning comedian has been described as half man, half Xbox.

He started performing stand up aged only 16 and has already appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Eight out of Ten Cats, Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks, The Rob Bryden Show, Comic Relief’s Mock the Week, The Paul O’Grady Show and the 2012 Stand Up for Sport Relief as well as starring in his own BBC show, The Adventures of Daniel.

He became one of the youngest ever finalists in the national comedy competition So You Think You’re Funny in 2008 at the tender age of just 17.

“All that was before I started to shave. I’m now 22, I’ve left home and the gloves are off!” he said.

Sloss won the title Best New Comedian at the Scottish Variety Awards 2011 and has
toured internationally to great acclaim.

In July he became one of the very few comedians invited to perform a solo season at the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs comedy festival and he’s a popular, regular guest on Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw Show.

After a second sellout run at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010 he was snapped up by Live Nation and started to tour in earnest, taking in Scotland, the rest of the UK and Australia.

Then last year his Edinburgh Fringe Festival show The Joker was an unprecedented success with every seat in the new 400-seat Assembly venue sold out over four weeks.

It was this show he brought to The Mill in his first visit to Banbury last October.

“He’s back this season with another fabulous night of comedy with support from the up-and-coming Newcastle comedy star Kai Humphries, who is his special guest,” said The Mill’s programme manager, Deborah Clarke.

“It’s a stunning new show. Daniel is a real stand-up sensation – a performer with confidence and charisma and natural timing. This is one comedy performance you should not miss!”

Daniel Sloss will appear at The Mill on Sunday, October 21 at 7.30pm.
