THE historical St Mary’s Church in Adderbury needs the help of the public to safeguard its future as it struggles to make ends meet.

A campaign focussing on ways to decrease the church’s yearly budget deficit of £10,000 has been launched by the Parochial Church Council’s (PCC) financial committee. The finance action group, which has been appointed by the PCC, has estimated that a minimum of £5,500 needs to be raised through individual giving in order to meet ongoing demands.

The group’s chairman, Richard Davis, said: “What we’re finding is that the income doesn’t match up with the expenditure. The original building dates back to the 12th Century. It’s a wonderful medieval building and within it we’re seeking to have a vibrant church community.” A presentation of the campaign will be held as part of the church’s morning service on Sunday, November 18.
