A JEWELLER has set up an initiative for love birds to create the ultimate symbols of commitment for their big day.
Lucy Sylvester is running day-long workshops for husbands and wives-to-be to design and make wedding rings for each other.
"They come to me with an idea of how they want their rings to look and from there we work out the price and how long it will take," she said.
"Generally it takes about a day, though it can be longer if it's a particularly complicated ring like setting stones or mixing metals, but anyone can do it.
"It's very romantic and fascinating to watch the couple working together.
"You can really see they are enjoying doing something so personal together."
Miss Sylvester achieved a master's degree in metalwork and jewellery in 2003 before began trading as a jewellery designer and maker under her own name and exhibiting in galleries and shows across England and Wales.
She said: "I specialise in jewellery and spoons, which are quite popular for christenings.
"I'm becoming more and more successful and recognised in the industry, and work in silver and gold mainly.
"I began running ring workshops last year. I enjoy teaching people and thought this would be a really nice service to provide. It's been really popular and I've had great feedback from everybody.
"I also take photographs of the couple throughout the day, which is a really good way to start a wedding album."
The price of making the rings varies but is often cheaper than a High Street alternative.
Creating two nine-carrat gold rings starts from £350, with a pair of silver ones starting at £230.
